About Port Moody, BC

Port Moody a town of about 30,000 is located on the north side of the Fraser River nestled between Burnaby and Coquitlam approximately 18 kilometers from Vancouver.  In the late 19th century Port Moody became the western terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway.  This prevailed until the Railway was extended to Vancouver.

The town was named for Colonel Richard Moody Commander of the Royal Engineers posted in BC.  Port Moody is home to a viable deep sea bulk loading terminal. The town also enjoys its reputation and designation as “City of the Arts”.
